Special Guest Speaker
Dr. Sandra Stone
It the spirit of the theme, we have invited Dr. Sandra Stone to be our guest speaker for the 2008 GSA meetings. I first met Sandra (affectionately known as “Sandy” to many of her GSA friends) when I joined the University of West Georgia Department of Sociology in 2000. Sandra encouraged me to join two organizations---AAUP and GSA. Sandra’s career has taken an interesting path since that time. After many years of service in the classroom Sandra moved into an administrative post in 2002 where she served as the Associate Vice-President for Academic Affairs at the University of West Georgia. In 2007 she joined the University System of Georgia as Vice Chancellor for Academic Planning and Programs. As one who has successfully maneuvered through the classroom and the boardroom, we can look forward to Sandra’s insights on the changing nature of higher education.
