AWARDS
In an effort to promote excellence in the practice and teaching of sociology, the Georgia Sociological Association has instituted an award for the Georgia Sociologist of the Year. We are now soliciting nominations for this honor which is to be bestowed at the organization’s next annual meeting.
Nominations can be offered by any Georgia sociologist, and should include the name of the nominee, his or her institutional affiliation and his or her academic rank. Also included should be information that documents the basis of the selection. These materials, and an explanatory cover letter, may highlight achievements in teaching, research, sociological practice, community service, or any combination of the above.
Once a winner is selected, the GSA will provide a platform for the recipient to share his or her attainments with colleagues from around the state. The goal of this presentation is to help elevate the standards of us all.
Because we in the GSA believe in the need of our discipline to continue as a respected and socially useful science, we urgently request your assistance in making this initiative work. The final date for submissions is July 1, 2006.
