The Department of Sociology and Human Services at The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a full-time, ten-month, tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor of Human Services. The University of North Georgia is a multi-campus university with an enrollment of nearly 20,000 students, making it one of the largest institutions in the University System of Georgia. UNG is focused on a mission of educational excellence, leadership development and community engagement opportunities that develop students into leaders for a diverse and global society. This position is on the Gainesville Campus.
The HSDA program at UNG offers a BS and MS degree. The curriculum provides students with applied training in a rigorous academic setting. The department seeks candidates whose research, teaching, or service has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to diversity and inclusion in higher education and with a demonstrated commitment to supporting groups that are historically underrepresented in higher education. Areas of expertise are open, but we are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in substance addiction studies and/or program planning and evaluation. We require a PhD at the time of appointment in one of the following areas: Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, Social Welfare Policy, Criminal Justice, Sociology or Counseling. Related fields not listed above may also be considered, particularly if there is a strong record of applied experience.
